It lies at an attitude of 970 meters and during the winter season, snow falls reguraly on the surrounding mountain while it enjoys an average eighty percent clear starlight during the year. An asteroid, been named as (1245 Calvinia) is named after the town of Calvinia as well. Municipality building guidelines are applicable and no time limit to build within.
