This pristine Eastern Free State farm is not only one of the most beautiful, but also one of the safest in the area. It offers exceptional, high-quality natural grazing in a high rainfall region.
LOCATION
This inner-farm is situated approximately 35 km from Fouriesburg in the direction of Bethlehem and about 13 km from Slabberts.
GRAZING
The farm is divided into two camps with a high carrying capacity Red Grass (Rooigras) that grows abundantly on the plateaus. Due to the mountainous terrain, the farm likely offers more usable grazing than the size reflected on the title deed suggests.
There are also approximately 30 ha of established Eragrostis pasture. Although the farm is largely mountainous, the plateaus provide excellent grazing with good basal cover. Livestock handling facilities are available and include a loading bench. The carrying capacity is approximately 4 ha per large stock unit.
WATER
The Brandwater River originates at two points on the farm. There are also several springs and streams that provide sufficient water for most of the year. Various streams form natural pools, ensuring adequate drinking points for livestock when the streams stop flowing for approximately three months of the year.
There is one earth dam on the farm that is for the most part fairly consistent. There are also opportunities to develop additional dams elsewhere on the farm, as the ravines provide a large catchment area during the rainy season. The annual rainfall in the area compares well with that of Bethlehem, Fouriesburg, and Clarens.
