Viljoenskroon is a town in the Free State province of South Africa. The town is located on the Vaal River, about 80 km north-west of Johannesburg. The town was established in 1884 on the farm Viljoen's Kroon, and was named after the farm's owner, Barend Viljoen. The farm was originally part of the Zoutpansberg Voortrekker settlement. Viljoenskroon is a popular destination for fishing, camping, and hiking. The town is also home to a number of historical buildings, including the Dutch Reformed Church (built in 1884), the Old Jail (built in 1885), and the Barend Viljoen Museum (housed in the former town hall, built in 1909).
